Wine Fest at the Fair

Anybody go to the wine festival at the fair this past Saturday? This is the second year they have done it and I was a bit disappointed in it this year. This year it was $45.00 for a 3 hour session, either 11 to 2 or 3 to 6. We went to the later one. It was in the garden area which is great and it really wasn't too crowded. I had several problems with the fest. the first was that there were a fair number of wines from outside the area, even if you count Temecula as in the area. I really didn't think barefoot bubbly from EJ or Coppola wines really fit in. Last year, it was San Diego only, possibly a few from Temecula. The other problem I had, was a lot of the wineries did not have a representative there, only one of the fair employees doing the pouring. The people while nice and courteous, really didn't know the wines very well and were not able to answer any questions. My highlight winery was Milargro, which should of been no surprise to me because I found out that it was run by Jim Hart the son of Joe Hart of Hart Winery. The low light was the passion fruit wine, it was really god-awful.
