Wine Country Report: Painted Lady

Six of us went wine tasting Saturday and then visited the packed and popular new Painted Lady Restaurant in Newberg on Saturday night. I'm, in general, a reasonably tough critic; this was a very good meal with absolutely impeccable service.

Among the highlights were a chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto (extremely moist) over a very slightly, and perfectly, flavored blue cheese polenta; pork tenderloin in pomegrante glaze (wonderful flavor, nut encrusted); arugula salad (I felt it was slightly overdressed, others did not); asparagus salad (perfection indeed); a chevre cheesecake that was wonderful. $39 three courses; we could hardly walk out we were so full. Wine list a bit overpriced, $15 corkage so bring your own (we did, but our temperanillo was on their list so we didn't ask it be opened). Unobtrusive yet truly remarkable service kept everything humming. Recommended. (but the menu posted is not the current menu).
