Windy's in Palo Alto - Really Good!

I'm a bit worried about one of my favorite Palo Alto restaurants because every time I go, there aren't very many people there. For me, it fills a void in the Palo Alto dining scene - good food, nice ambiance, good service, and moderately priced. Most other restaurants in PA are just more than I want to spend on weekday dinner out.

My favorite dish at Windy's and one of my favorite dishes anywhere is their Salt and Pepper Shrimp. It is batter fried shrimp served with sauteed onions and jalapeno peppers. The chef at Windy's is a master at frying - the shrimp are totally greaseless and crisp and intensely flavored. (warning - they don't do well as take out because they get soggy) Other fried dishes such as Sesame Bean Curd are also very well done.

Las week I also tried a special of Sauteed Pea Shoots which were excellent. The service is friendly and the restaurant itself is very attractive with high ceilings and pale yellow walls. I'm baffled as to why it's not more popular. Especially given the popularity of P.F. Changs in the new Stanford Shopping Center which is a beautiful space, but the food is very inconsistent.

Anyway, I've appreciated finding out tips from this board, and I hope other people will enjoy Windy's! It's at 168 University Ave, near High St.
