Willie D's

Latinpig | Aug 11, 2010 11:55 AM

In search of Soul Food some buddies of mine and I ventured over to Willie D's on 38th and Chicago. We were going to the Global Market to try the West Indies Soul Food place there but were urged at the last minute to go try Wille D's fried chikcen.

Our table tried the Fried Chicken, BBQ ribs, pulled pork sandwhich and BBQ chicken wings. I thought the Fried chicken was just ok. It had a heavy coat of batter that was slightly sweet. I very much enjoyed the BBQ chicken wings although I would say they were a tad too sweet as well. Others liked the pork items very much. I liked the greens alot as a side. Someone else liked the fried corn side.

The pecan pie was pedestrian but the Sweet Potato pie was to die for. I would probably not go back (ok maybe for a sweet potato pie) but I am glad I tried it (Ilove food adventures).
