Williamsburg Butcher recommendations?

Alex | Dec 11, 2002 01:33 PM

Anyone have any recommendations for a well-stocked butcher in the Williamsburg area? I am aware of the couple of Polish places on Bedford, but their selection seems somewhat limited and on the couple of occasions when I have asked for something that is not readily apparent, they have not understood what it is I am asking for. I've seen lots of wholesale meat suppliers around and such, but am not sure if you can buy retail from them or not.
The standard cuts of meat are easily obtained at Tops or the Polish places, but I am interested in places that can special order things such as suckling pigs, duck, squab, offal, etc. on occasion if they do not carry them.
If nothing else, I know I can jump on the L and usually get what I need at the 2nd Ave butcher, but I'm looking for somewhere a little closer to home.

Thanks.
