Last March, pre-chowhound for me, I stopped at Wild Flour Bread in Freestone, near Sebastopol. I couldn't find a posting about it since 2003 so thought I'd mention it for those who don't know about it. It's the "real thing", a brick-oven bakery where the work is done before your eyes, and where the bakery goods are quite special. I bought a pear-fig-ginger loaf of bread. It was unique in the real sense of the word (I resisted "really unique") and just great, very moist and dense and flavorful.
