Last night I was lucky enough to go to Angelini on someone else's sizeable expense account. So, I did what any good moocher would do: order the $70 tagliatelle with white truffles. Now, I'm already a big fan of Angelini, but this dish was one of the best things I've ever had. There were plenty of truffles in the pasta as well as a layer shaved on top. They were earthy and heady and tasted like the forest. The pasta was delicate and clearly handmade. All of the other dishes at the table were very good, but my pasta was definitely the star. I considered licking my plate.
I now believe that $70 is not unreasonable to have this experience every once in a while. They also had a white truffle pizza ($70) and scrambled eggs with truffles ($65, as I recall).
Worth noting after last week's thread - the service was excellent.
