i mean, its ok. fine, theres things on the menu that you normally dont see. and the soda bread is good.
its a hop and a skip from work, but i never feel desperate to eat there. the cooking seems competent at best .. i never get the tang of real love. its exactly how i feel about the taj group: they know how its supposed to be done, they do it skillfully, yet theres no transcendent joy.
if st. johns closes, i wouldn't be sad and my life wouldnt be any poorer. while i appreciate cooking with care in this city famous for its disregard of the table, for those of you who dig this place enormously, tell me - what am i missing?
