Wet towel covering clams froze

I bought some fresh clams last night around 9 at Whole Foods and put them in a colander with a damp towel on top and then placed them in the fridge. This morning at 7 i awoke to find the towel had frozen. I was planning on making a chowder this afternoon, will the clams be alright still?
