Was browsing this week's LA Business Journal (June 10-16, 2002) & came across an article called "Stores Retreat from Troubled Westwood" that also discussed restaurants.
Jeff Knight, the owner of Maui Beach Cafe, was quoted. The restaurant closed in mid-2000 after losing $2 million.
Corner Bakery is going to occupy the former Maui Beach Cafe space, and a Chili's Restaurant has signed a lease to occupy the former Yesterday's Resturant space.
Local business owners are upset that the Madison Marquette leasing company seems to be bringing in only big-box chain stores, and of course, parking is always an issue.
