Westside Coffee Date suggestions

I'm meeting a friend for coffee and a sort of 'get to know each other better' first date tonight. I initially said Intelligentsia, because it's where I go on the westside for great coffee (and I usually wind up writing for a while there, though I'm not a writer by trade).

But on second thought, the vibe isn't that great for relaxing or for conversing. she's a native Californian and therefore gets cold easily, so sitting outside at Intelligentsia would be a no. Something about the vibe at the Venice Intelligentsia would just set people on a date on edge, imo.

Then when checking their hours on their website it says they're only open til 8 on Mondays, which surprised me because I thought they were open til 11 Sunday-Thursday and til midnight on Friday and Saturday (yeah I've been there a lot) but there's no response to their phone number, so I'm just just preemptively canceling it to avoid troubles.

Which is too bad because I'd thought that walking across the street to conclude the evening with some gelato from N'ice Cream would have been fun.

So now I'm looking for a nice place to have a long lingering cup of coffee (not a meal really) and a pleasant conversation. I think the Santa Monica Urth Cafe will probably be my best bet, I remember it having a large fireplace inside the one time I was there, but I think most of their seating is outside and I'd hate to be stuck outside.

Talking Stick is comfy but too divey, and I imagine it being too loud to hear each other.

Are there any coffee places I'm unaware of on the westside that would be good place to go, quiet, but nice seating and comfortable?
