Okay, I have mixed feelings about this, because I want this to not be invaded by a lot of people, but on the other hand... SO GOOD!
A must-chow place in Westlake Village is Galletto Bar & Grill on Westlake Blvd. south of the 101 freeway, on the east side of the road (it's in the yuppie plaza nearer to the Vons than to the Gelsons). It's Brazilian-Italian, which is an odd combo that seems to work.
The must-chow part comes in on Saturday lunch, which they just started serving two weeks ago. The menu is very simple: feijoada (Brazilian black bean and meat stew served with manioc flour, rice, collards, fried yuca, plantain, and orange slices) and caipirinha (a sort of Brazilian margarita made with fermented sugarcane juice called cachaça, limes, and sugar).
It's about $20 for a caipirinha and feijoada and on a breezy day (sit outside to maximise this effect) it just absolutely hits the spot, to the point where I think I might have my wedding rehearsal lunch there.
The usual warning... go before the Zagat drones find it... Westlake Village would be high on my list of most-likely-to-contain-Zagat-drones.
