West Village casual fare yet excellent food options for a new resident

As I get older I am tired of dressing up for JG, Daniel, per se, etc. I prefer easy going, laid back places with good food. It doesn't have to be haute cuisine, a sandwich is fine, so long as it is yummy and the ingredients are carefully selected (on that note, the butter doesn't have to be from an obscure farm in rural France but not from Sysco either). Looking for places to eat every day and also some stuff that would be more for special occasions. I have a chef that cooks for me but it's nice to eat dinner out each night...

I spend a lot of time in Switzerland and the atmosphere being at a local bistro/restaurant is wonderful, and the food is just as good as a stiff fancy place.

I live in the West Village, but I'm happy to travel anywhere downtown or up the west side (especially) or the east side.

I don't really drink alcohol, so that's not a concern, although I'd prefer not getting dirty looks because I don't order alcohol :) Great if I don't need to always make a reservation...

So far I've found a pizza place, an Indian place and a Thai place I like. I want to expand...
