I haven't seen these places mentioned very much on Chowhound.
Old Place Restaurant is southwest of Pittsboro near Bonlee out by hwy. 421 on Elmer Moore Road. Apparently they have very limited hours (Friday, Saturday for dinner and Sunday for lunch).
Ye Old Country Kitchen is 30 miles west of Chapel Hill down the Greensboro road in Snow Camp, NC (right next to the Outdoor Theater there). They seem to be open more days (Wednesday - Sunday) and have a set menu as well as daily lunch and dinner buffets. Their menu claims to use fresh ingredients and go light on the unhealthy stuff.
How do these places stack up in terms of actually cooking quality home-style Southern food (a hard find in the Triangle proper)? If no one here has sampled them, I intend to do so and will provide a review once I return to NC in a few weeks.
