Checked out this fairly new place on Centre St. last nite, pretty jumping for a Tues. with a varied crowd of families, townies and local hipsters. Two good sized rooms, we opted for the bar/lounge area since they said there was a wait in the dining room (didn't seem *that* packed and there was room at the chef's table). We had a choice of both the bar and regular menu and their large fancy drink menu. I got a tasty good sized watermelon martini and my (male) friend got a cremesicle. In fact, the guy on my left was ordering fancy girly martinis the whole time, guess it was that kind of nite. Got the fried calamari and baked mac & cheese from the bar menu and lamb sausage app. from the main menu. There were some tempting entrees like cod w/ bacon and clams but we were pretty happy with our choices. The calamari were fried perfectly with just a few peppers and remoulade type dipping sauce. Mac & cheese was okay but could have used more cheese flavor and less veggies. It had peas and large chunks of carrots and personally, I like a more basic style. The lamb sausage was very tasty, served with grainy mustard, little cornichons (sp) and a bit of potato salad. I think those dishes were $8 each. Ended with berry cobbler and they gave us a scoop of vanilla ice cream in addition to the saboyon sauce. The space looks generic from the outside but is fairly pleasant inside with brick walls and couches in the bar area. Both bartenders were on top of things, and we enjoyed ourselves for $46 (pre tax/tip).
