Went to West on Centre last night when I couldn't get a reservation at Vintage. Started the night with a couple of cocktails. Made well, tasted of fresh juice. My wife had the caeser salad. Good, garlicky dressing, crisp lettuce. Better than most I have had in Boston. I started with "stuffers" two big quohogs stuffed with a slightly spicy bread filling. This app was really good. Good quohog to bread ratio, garlic, onion, and something to make it spicy, cayanne maybe?
Both of us had the striped bass special. Pan roasted sitting on top of red bliss spuds and creamed corn with bacon. Bass was perfect, moist with crisp skin. The creamed corn was rich without being too heavy with just a hint of the bacon. There were also 3 shrimp on the plate? I guess the chef thought he needed them to get the $20 asking price, he didn't!
Had a nice glass of voigner with the entree. We shared a black forest cake for dessert, very rich.
$110.00 for 3 cocktails, 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine and dessert.
One thing I have to say about West on Center is that the food came out hot, really really hot. So hot that I had to wait to eat some of it. I seems to me that the last couple of times that I have gone out, the food that I have had was warm. It was nice to get hot food.
