West African Restaurant-Charlotte, NC

The local paper wrote a review last Friday about a new restaurant, Katchikally, serving food from Gambia/Senegal. I posted a query to the general topics page (link below)to get some more info. I tried it at lunch today with 5 co-workers. It was great! Its in a small shopping center
on Woodlawn road next to I-77, next to the Krispy Kreme.
We tried a wide variety of dishes. The owners were more than happy to answer questions.
The dishes all cost a little over $6 each before tip, and it included a wonderful fruit drink. I tried the Fish Benechino, which is a spicy rice dish with fish, and vegetables in a tomato based sauce.
A fellow diner had sisay yassa, which is chicken breast with onion in a lemon sauce. Not all dishes are spicy, and they will adjust to taste. The only dissapointment was the jerk chicken, which came out undercooked. There are vegetarian dishes, also meat dishes with beef, lamb, and goat. If you read the review in the Charlotte Observer, and follow the post below, you will find out more about it. If you search the Village Voice, as one poster suggested, you will find a couple of review on NYC restaurants serving this type of cuisine that will give more information. I highly recommend the Katchikally
