Weird Stella Artois Taste

I was hoping you beer experts could help me on this one:

I went out to dinner at a french bistro tonight (Bistro du Coin in Washington, DC) and ordered a Stella Artois to drink. I've had this beer a number of times both in the bottle and on tap. I wouldn't say it's my "go-to" beer but I've had it quite a bit.

For some reason this time it tasted quite sweet---almost like ginger ale. Is this how it usually tastes when poured from tap? I couldn't figure out if it was just that I hadn't tried it in awhile or if something was up with the beer. It was poured perfectly, but the taste seemed quite sweet...not beer-like at all.

I probably should have asked my waitress but the place was absolutly packed and I wasn't sure if I was just mistaken with my order or not. Any insight would be great...thanks!
