Weird experience at Devi

Toot | Nov 8, 2004 09:18 AM

I went with 2 female friends to Devi Friday evening. We had a 7 pm reservation. One friend was 10 min. late, so I would say that we ordered our cocktails around 7:15 and order our dinner may be around 7:30.

The waiter was really nice. I can't eat spicy food (meaning hot food)and he was helpful in advising the less spicy dishes. But even the dish he said wasn't spice (the chicken tandoor) was a bit too hot for me.
But anyway, that isn't the point. We ate our dinners and two of us had desserts (the trio of cremes was amazing, so was the mango cheesecake). A bit before 9 pm while one of my friends was finishing her tea the bill came without us asking. But that was still ok. We paid the bill which was $193. after tip(not exactly a cheap meal). After about 10 min the manager came to us and asked (in a nice way) if he could seat us at the bar because there were people waiting for the table. The bar at Devi is not exactly pleasant. It's very small and very close to the door and they don't have double doors to protect from the cold. So we decided to leave. It was odd. I have never been asked to vacate my table in a restaurant before.

It just let me wondering if we were with our husbands they would ask us to vacate the table anyway...
