Took a group to this place on the recommendation of a former college student in St. Louis. He said theat Wei Hong on Grand was the best Chinese restaurant (authentic) in town, andthe one on Olive was the best in town for dim sum. We went to the one at 3175 S. Grand.
If I lived in STL and this was the best I could get, I'd be reasonably satisfied, and maybe other dishes than what we ordered would be great. I'd give the place a B, comparing it to authentic Chinese restaurants in major cities.
I think you'd call this a Hong Kong style restaurant. BBQ ducks hanging by the chopping board, that kind of place.
The duck was the worst thing we had, too fatty. Other dishes: sizzling black pepper beef (good dish), kung po chicken (gets a C), eggplant with garlic (solid A), Chinese broccoli (A-), and beef flat noodles with black bean sauce (B).
Afterwards we drove to Ted Drewe's (A plus).
