April .. Already! or At Last! Depending on how mild your winter was and your favorite cooking style. By month-end I’d guess most of us will be able to use our BBQ grills outdoors.
Let's use this thread to share concise weekly dinner menus for each week in the 1st half of April. Will you be joining in the Cookbook of the Month (Dinner by Melissa Clark), make a DOTM (Dish of the Month) or something from the Spring quarterly baking book (Classic Home Desserts by Richard Sax)?
Planning meals ahead helps make sense of that jumble of produce in the fridge and that freezer full of protein, soup stocks, and even mystery packets. Is this the month you’re brave enough to thaw and use (or decide to finally toss) a few? In my kitchen, I’m looking at using that lone packet of frozen rhubarb now that I’ll have fresh stalks to harvest in a month.
You may choose to report actuals for the prior week to share ideas with others and as your own reality-check for next week’s plans. We all know plans change, whether it’s by swapping days or crossing off a meal entirely due to illness (aww) or an invite out (yeah!) for a meal with friends or loved ones.
It's helpful if you can include your location and how many people you are feeding. Links to recipes are always appreciated, and sources help.
The March discussion is still available for reporting last week and follow-ups. https://www.chowhound.com/post/weekly...
Reminder – Keep your comments menu / food related. We’re such a friendly group it’s easy to get chatty and our longer discussions (more than 300 or so) are slower to load; so I’ll plan on starting a 2nd half discussion mid-month. Even short one-sentence posts seem to add to the burden (CH tech has been told about the issue). So please use the Heart under a comment to indicate you liked it or want to echo what was said by another, rather than posting a separate “me too” comment
