First of all, thank you all for your recommendations! Thought I owed it post my feedback.
1) Cafe Gray--we really liked this restaurant and found the dishes innovative and very well executed. The short rib was tender and sweet and delicious; braised veal cheek lasagne was rich and covered in bechamel. We also enjoyed the skate, the foie gras and pheasant, and the chocolate-orange-rum dessert. Overall it was a very good meal and the waitstaff was friendly and helpful.
2) Cru--this was our least favorite of our three dinners. My father and I went with the Crudo tastings, and everyone else ordered appetizers and entrees. Although they lavish you with amuse-bouches and offer seemingly innovative dishes, we found the result lacked surprising flavors and the some of the dishes were lacking. The squash veloute, for example, was way too sweet. Good restaurant, but I would not return any time soon.
3) The Fatty Crab--this was by far our favorite of the weekend. We went Sunday night so there was no wait (thank you, snowstorm). We told the waiter to bring us all of his favorite dishes. Among our top-ranked were the crisp pork and pickled watermelon, the chile crab (messy but worth the effort), and the fatty duck. We will DEFINITELY be returning to this place.
