Thank you PA chowhounds for helping me have such a good eats weekend in Philadelphia. Here's where we ate:
London Grill - Early dinner. Great fried zucchini + hummus app. Watermelon + goat cheese salad was tasty. Kids pizza was doughy and gross. Hanger steak was really good. Salmon over lentils had great flavor. Wines by the glass were weak.
Reading Terminal Market - Breakfast and lunch 3 days. I would like to set up an apartment in the market and live there forever. Standouts: Little Thai market (salmon), Metropolitan bakery (chocolate croissant) and the Original Turkey (roasted birds). I wish I tried Delilah's and DiNic's but we ran out of time/appetite. Didn't like: Tokyo sushi bar and costal cave's raw oysters were just OK and pricey.
Morimoto - Dinner. we ordered the 120 price point tasting menu. I had it with booze, my wife did not. Just about every thing was excellent. Service was good but the bus boys were terrible. I said to myself; self, imagine that bus boys can almost ruin a meal. 8 courses plus intermezzo raspberry and wasabi sorbet (sounds bad tastes good). Standouts: torro appetizer with sake martini, Oyster tasting and maybe the best dish of the trip - scallops served with hot oil. The only disappointment (apart from the bill) was the dessert.
Jones - Brunch. Excellent Huevos rancheros. Tater tots rule!
Tre Scalani - Hard to find but solid homestyle Italian food. I'm picky with Italian and I didn't love this place but I can see how people would. Veal chop was the best dish. Caprese salad had under ripe tomato. Shrimp and bean app had overcooked shrimp and lacked garlic flavor. Squid ink pasta with crab and shrimp had overcooked shrimp (again). I would give them a second try but I wouldnt order shrimp.
Thats all I have. Thanks for your recs. -Pete
