On Saturday and Sunday, free public parking is allowed at the lot right next to Sea Salts patio. This patio has to be one of the prettiest in the East Bay.
Nestled in the shade of a grove of trees, it makes a great Sunday stop for lunch, dinner or a glass of wine to sip while reading the Sunday paper. Theres even a really great private little table in a far corner. There are pretty flowers and wicker baskets filled with sea shells.
Sea Salt is finally serving wine. It has a nice selection and the glasses are appropriate to the variety. The patio called to me when I was checking out the parking lot. The plan was just for a glass of wine on this sunny day, but the dessert was too good to pass up.
The fall dessert is pumpkin and date bread pudding with spiced cream and cranberries. The date bread wasnt visusally evident and used for flavor and texture to the moist square that had a brownie look to it. There were dabs of cranberry sauce around the square and it was topped with a decadently thick cream that tasted of gingerbread spice. Each was fine, but a forkful of pumpkin pudding dipped in cranberry and cream magnificently shouted the holiday season was coming. Even better is pairing it with the 1998 Noval Late Bottled vintage port. Fabulous.
The other fall dessert is warm pear cake with hazelnut marcapone.
I heard the server say that T-Rex, Lalimes new barbecue restaurant at Tenth and Gilman will open in two weeks if they pass all the final inspections.
