weekend in Louisville

Last weekend we had roadtrip fever, but very little time, so we got on down the road to Louisville. We took 42 from Cincinnati...a really beautiful drive. We went to the Riverbats baseball game (Triple A)...great fun, including Jake the batdog and Chet the dancing usher. The 'Bats got shelled, but it was a grand day...they have no pitching, because if they did, we'd have them in Cincinnati (we have no pitching either!) After fresh popcorn ( real ballyard treat...I think they pop the corn at Cinergy Field inCinti during the Bengals season for the upcoming baseball season) and a Slugger dog, we saved room for dinner at Lynn's Paradise Cafe. The food was fine, but the decor...! I want Lynn to decorate my house! Just over the top on everything! We had such fun that we stopped for breakfast 2 days later on our way out of town. Loved their entrants in the "ugly lamp" contest.

We toured the Louisville Slugger museum and factory - very interesting for the baseball aficiando and then walked to the Brown Hotel for a wonderful Hot Brown. For dinner that evening, we went to the Oak Room at the Seelbach and participated in a wonderful tasting menu...eight delectable courses artfully prepared and presented using local Kentucky products. A truly amazing dinner for $75 a person. We also stopped at the Hadley Pottery factory and loaded up on seconds, wonderful gift items.

I would highly recommemd Louisville for a getaway. We had a wonderful time and hope to return soon.
