i'm going to chicago for the first time this weekend and i'm looking for a great taste of the city (particularly since i am moving here in august-- i want to to get psyched up for the foodie scene here!).
what would be an authentic deep-dish pie place downtown to go to for lunch? maybe close to michigan avenue? i'm open to suggestions elsewhere in twon, i'd just like to get some pizza before i even check into the hotel.
also, i want to save the fancy, pricey places for the next few months, so what would be some really good moderate places to try? particularly in downtown, lakeview, wicker park? i'm open to any kind of cuisine but particularly love a good french bistro with the classics, mediterranean/tapas, creative italian and really good indian. any out of the box suggestions are welcome too!
finally, what would be a good place for a mellow sunday brunch? we're staying on michigan avenue, but also hope to be apt hunting in bucktown/wicker park so anything in these areas would be appreciated.
sorry for the long and open-ended post! i'm just excited about my introduction to the chicago dining scene. i can't wait!
