Wedding Present - Dinner for Two

Catherine | May 4, 2005 12:51 PM

I have two dear friends living in West Hollywood who are getting married this week in a small civil ceremony (I hope they don't read these boards). As a gift, I would like to buy them a certificate for a celebratory dinner at a good restaurant, something that is a big luxury for them right now. I'd be happy to spend as much as $250-$300. I live nowhere nearby and am only passingly familiar with the LA restaurant scene, so I'm turning to the experts for suggestions.

I'd like a place with a varied and reasonable wine list (so that the gift will cover a decent bottle of wine) and a good set of vegetarian options (one of them is a vegetarian; the other isn't). They are varied and adventurous eaters -- I can't think of any cuisine they avoid. Otherwise, I guess I'm just looking to buy them a meal in a place that feels special and will leave them delighted that they went. That's a totally subjective criterion, but hopefully you all know what I mean.

Many thanks -- they deserve the celebration.
