Help! The weather is screwing up my baking!

I'm in the throes of holiday baking--I have houseguests arriving on Friday and a party on Saturday, more houseguests next week--and I'm having a problem. It is freakishly warm here in Washington, and rainy and damp. Last night I tried making a batch of ginger cookies as they usually keep very well. But they are sticky and damp, I can't get them to even approach crispiness in order to store them. I'm afraid to bake anything else today in these conditions--so much for meringues--but I can't put it off forever, and I'd prefer not to pull all-nighters before the party. I'm terrified that it will last until Saturday, making the centerpiece of the party, a towering croquembouche, into a weeping, soggy mess.

Can baking hounds offer any advice? Please??? Many thanks in advance...
