Delightful article in today's NY Times about the painter Wayne Thiebaud and his relationship to food. Turns out he doesn't just paint it up all pretty, he cares a hell of a lot about it as well.
Great starting point: "Subjecting Wayne Thiebaud to a $48 breakfast was a mistake." Turns out, he would have rather gone to the diner a few blocks away. Dunno how anyone who'd ever seen his work wouldn't have known that, but it makes for a great read.
