Waterfront table for 3 on a Friday evening in July?

Question

Can anyone tell me where I can make a reservation for an outside water-view table in the city on a summer Friday night? I have an out of town guest who wants to see the water while eating and drinking tomorrow night... Ideally, a place where we can sit and talk. I immediately think of the roof deck of Legal's Harborside, but can't make a reservation for that area, so I'm stumped. Also thought about the Sea Grille at the BHH (movie night!) but also can't reserve the outside tables! Argh! Any secrets welcome!

I've never tried specifically for a water view table when making a reservation, but options include Aragosta, Joe's American in the North End, Dante in Cambridge... Whiskey Priest and Atlantic Beer Garden are right on the water though their food isn't great. Maybe Jerry Remy's or 75 on the Waterfront? Many places may not let you reserve a specifically outdoor table but it's worth a call.

It's kind of a mixed bag, but what about the Daily Catch? the one next to the courthouse. I think the food is just okay, and the service is decidedly mixed. On the other hand, that patio on the harbor is really, really nice.

I am about to take a chance and visit the brand new Lookout Bar at the Envoy Hotel. It's listed in the dining section. I can't seem to find a menu but I expect Marriot type of food:

Chronicle just did this, tonight. starts in NH but does a couple of options in Boston, Somerville and Charlestown.
good city views but not all the waterfronts are on the Atlantic.

Smith and Wollenskey has very attractive outdoor seating on the channel. Not quite harbor, but awfully close. You have to want the steakhouse thing of course.
