Washbag (SF)

Last month, I stopped at the revived Washington Square Bar and Grill in North Beach for a light lunch. Surprisingly, the place was nearly empty at 1pm, and it was no problem to get one of the desirable window tables facing Washington Square. Only ice tea, some good bread and a chopped salad (small and light on meats and cheeses, rather than an entrée size) this time, so not much to report food-wise. What did leave an impression was the unobtrusive and proficient service, also how comfortable the restored room feels. My two-top was wider than usual with room to spread out for business conversations and doodling. The tables have some space between them. The warm woods and fittings add a period look reminiscent of a Southern drawl.

Hope other ‘hounds will chime in with their experiences and tell us more about the food.
