Help with wasabi peas!

I've had 2 failed attempts trying to make wasabi peas. It seems that no matter how much wasabi I put in the coat mixture(tahini, rice vinegar, dejon mustard),the coated dried peas lose all of the wasabi flavor after only a few minutes at 250*. Question; can anyone tell me how to keep wasabi flavor and heat in the final product?
