Somewhere in this post you are likely to think "he wants to do what?" *grin* Bear with me.
I am a technical speaker at boating gathering about a four hour drive (by car) from home. This is a four day event. Several afternoons there is a boat crawl (like an open house) and I want to bring a little present to each boat I visit.
I am a bit of a character in my industry and I like doing things (pleasant things) that people talk about.
My thought is to make homemade cookies (probably chocolate chip but I'm open to suggestions) and give each boat crawl host a plate of five(ish) cookies. Doubletree hotels (for example) have little warmers behind the front desk so the cookies are warm. I'm looking for thoughts on how to do something similar.
I don't know where I'm staying yet - it may be on a host boat, it may be camped in the corner of a sail loft, and if I can get a sponsor it may be a hotel room. I'll have a car and a small inverter (to make 117VAC household power from the car).
My thought is to make the cookies at home (perhaps taking them out a minute or two early) and heat them up each afternoon on site in a Crock-Pot (a real 1980 Crock-Pot brand slow cooker) running off the inverter in the car.
I'm certainly going to try this at home (I have about six weeks) before I leap into the fray. I thought I'd plumb the combined wisdom of chowhounds first.
