Wailea review/request

My husband and I love to find a great place to stay, park the car, and then walk everywhere. We did that last night in Lahaina - staying at the Lahaina Inn and then walking downstairs to The Lahaina Grill, where we enjoyed the Chef's Tasting Meal.

Alas, that is not going to work at our new location - The Grand Wailea. We ate lunch here today and had one of the most dismal (and expensive - $50 with tip) lunches of our life: nasty ahi wrap and a pineapple boat that contained about 5 pineapple chunks and about two cups of lousy cantelope. The Maui onion rings weren't bad, however there were just four of them.

So, I guess we will have to drive to find interesting and reasonably price food, but want to keep it short.

Looks like Kihei - is that the spelling? - will be our best bet. We need five lunch and four dinner places. The Lahaina Grill was our big splurge and we'd like to spend a good deal less than $79/person, but with an interesting or fun atmosphere. Maybe even a view. Take-out would be fine. Fish and local specialities a must. If I'm not asking too much, a list would be great.

Thanks! Mary & Dan from Knoxville, TN
