I had a great dish at Inatei last night, that may interest any hounds looking for a taste of Wagyu without spending a fortune.
It's a BBQ at the table setup, and the portion is 4 cubes, about 1x1 inch each. It doesn't sound like much, but the beef is rich enough that this can easily be a small appetizer for two. The dish costs $24.
The portable BBQs they have acquired are excellent. Charcoal burning and super hot, they make it really easy to get a great sear on the beef without cooking it through.
I didn't inquire as to the country of origin of the beef.
One of the waiters told me that they plan on offering this for the rest of the winter.
