how come this place is so quiet? i mean, ok this is not shunji-level cookery, and the bright lighting, 1980s decor.... ok, ok. but $28 wagyu? $7 good toro sushi? and all the top-rate daily specials. today i just had octopus sashimi fresher and softer than anything i've had outside japan. for 10 bucks or something. everytime i go there i feel like i'm ripping them off. and when i leave and see the people waiting outside gyu-kaku, also a chain, i just can't help but feel... maybe we angelenos don't deserve something this good after all. *sigh*
