Well after reading about all the praises for this place, especially from JudyAu. We decided to go there for dinner. It was the wife, myself, a cousin, and our baby (18 month old). We arrived at 6 on Saturday night and the place was empty! My wife's first comment was who recommended this place and it does not look good that it is empty on a Saturday night. That was the only two negative comments that I would hear all night.
We decided, against my wishes, to not have the omakase and to just order off the menu.
We started with toro (AWESOME!) sashimi. It was probably one of the best toros I have has with the exception of Ginza Sushico....my appologizes to Sushi Gen and Tama.
Next we had scallop sushi....I was good but nothing like the toro!
Then the lobster tempura came out. It was a whole tail that they fried up and mixed with some sort of chili suace....not too spicy for my Chinese taste buds but since my wife is Korean most things are not that spicy to her. It was a hit!
Next came the Dobin Mushi with matsutake mushrooms....the soup was very flavorful with a strong mushroom taste.
Then the Sea Bass with Frio Gras and daikon. This was a good dish, but my only complaint was that my 18 month old ate practically the whole dish by himself. A chowpup in the making.
Then came the King crab in bure blanc sauce. It was topped with a ton of uni that had been seared. This was the best dish of the night in my opinion.
Then we had Huge amiebi with uni that were grilled. It was good but we have had that else where so nothing really special.
Next came the angus beef and mushrooms and onions on a hot plate. This was probably the second best dish of the night. The meat was so good and tender.
Then we had the Sea bass with eggplant. Again my son ate most of the fish here but the eggplant was somewhat bitter. This dish was good but we probably will not order it next time.
then came the risotto with crab. The rissotto was awesome....when I ordered it I was told by my wife not to order ot but did any how. She was very happy that I did. It was probably the best rissotto she has ever had outside of any real italian restaurant!
Next was the spicy hamich in lettuce sushi. Not bad but niothing special given everthing else we had.
Lastly my wife wanted toro again so we had toro sushi.
Desert was a chocolate souflle cake and a green tea flan, both were good but the cake was really good.
All in all when in that part of town and in the mood for Japanese food ....Run to Wa Sushi! IT WAS AWESOME! JudyAu you really know your stuff!!!! kudos!
To top it off my son loved it there....
