Recent visits to Sydney Restaurants

My wife and I got back from Sydney last week after spending 7 days in Sydney. We saw the Opera Don Giovanni at the Sydney opera house as well as ate at some great restaurants. Here's some of the restaurants that we ate at:

Tetsuya's - Had a fanstastic meal here, definitely the high light of the trip!
Pacific oysters with ginger, soy vinaigrette
Snow Egg & Caviar Sandwich
Tartare of Tuna on Sushi Rice with Avocado
Tuna Marinated in Soy & Mirin
Spring Bay Scallop with Wakame & Lemon
Cold Corn Soup with Basil Ice Cream
Marinated NZ Scampi with Chicken Parfait & Walnut
Confit of Petuna Tasmanian Ocean Trout with Konbu, Daikon & Fennel
Season Green Salad
Ravioli of Queensland Spanner Crab with Tomato & Basil Vinaigrette
Grilled Breast of Duck with Braised Wiltof & Orange Jus
Grilled Wagyu Beef With Asian Mushrooms & Lime Jus
Beetroot & Blood Orange Sorbet
Strawberry Shortcake
Blue Cheese Ice Crean with Pear & Sauterne Jelly
Floating Island with Praline & Vanilla Bean Anglaise

The Quay's -
Appetizer - Crisp pressed duck, white turnips, sea scallops, chive flowers, congee
I had the Suckling pig, braised, pressed then roasted, PX sherry, prunes, cauliflower cream, black pudding (very good, the suckling pig was crispy and tasty)
Wife had the Crisp skinned Murray Cod, brown butter, baby squid filled with potato puree, flowering chives, spring onions, Hasuimo (okay, nothing special)
Desert - Warm prune, armagnac and marzipan tart

Guillaume at the Bennelong (Restaurant at the Opera House), we had after opera dinner here, best view in Sydney I think with great food to match.
Shared an appetizer - MORETON BAY BUG marinated in chamoula with cous cous, eggplant and capsicum
I had the ROASTED BARRAMUNDI on a bed of celeriac puree with pommes allumettes and a sage beurre noisette (very good, but slightly undersalted)
Wife had the FRESH INK PAPPARDELLE with sealed Queensland scallops, roasted Moreton Bay bug and Blue Swimmer crab meat in a tomato and coriander broth (this was very good with generous portions of scallops and the Bay bug - kinda of like a small lobster)
We did not have deserts because it was already 12:30AM when we got done.

Aria Restaurant - this was recommended by the Concierge at the Sydney Harbor Marriott's. The food was quite good, but with too much salt!

Shiki's Restaurant - this was a surprised find for us. It's a kaiseki style restaurant on the Rocks recommended by the concierge. Had a tasting menu of 10 courses for A$65, best deal among all the dinners I must say. We liked it so much we went back the following night to order dinner portions of the tasting menu. Especially good was the Grilled Wagyu beef with ponzu - Yummmy...

Another surprise of this trip was how good Australian Pinot Noirs were. I had never had them before here in the US but ordered it at every place we ate because they were so good.

We had a great time eating in Sydney and want to thank everyone who had replied on our earlier post in April.
