Dear Montreal hounds, excuse the cluelessness of what follows, but let me preface it by saying that any help you can provide will be IMMENSELY appreciated.
I was in your fair city (briefly) last November, and enjoyed it very, very much. Among the many fond food memories I have is one that stands out: It was a dessert, a moist sort of pound cake made with beer and topped with a caramel sauce. I had it at an excellent brewpub/restaurant somewhere below Mt. Royal, but where it was exactly, on what street, or what it was called I cannot remember for the world of me. And I've lost the business card.
That dessert was absolutely delicious, with a delicate balance of flavors and a moist and tender crumb; I ultimately hope to figure out a way to recreate it at home in Brooklyn (I even brought back some excellent caramel from the Oka abbey.) I wanted to contact the restaurant directly for the recipe or, even better, write Gourmet magazine's "You Asked for It" section, which would get the pub/restaurant (hgreat beer, tasty food) also some well-deserved publicity.
But obviously, I need to know which restaurant I'm talking about. Any ideas?
