Visiting Sydney, Australia. Good food souvenirs? Dessert?

Steph | Oct 27, 2005 09:56 PM

I'm always in search of two things in every city:

- Good dessert! I have a big sweet tooth... what are some noteworthy places for dessert?

(They don't have to be sit down, good bakeries are also appreciated)

- Good food to take home. Any notable food souvenirs?
I find they make the best gifts, rather than cheesy shot-glasses etc. I have done some preliminary research, I think I'll hit a store called Simon Johnson (any other?). And so far, I think I'm on the hunt for fig jam and Tazmanian honey. Any notable brands for those items? Any cookie brand/chocolate brands that are local? My requirement is that they can last a 15 hour flight, so I can't take anything that needs to be refrigerated, and something that won't go stale after a few days, because I can't see all my friends right after I land to distribute my goodies from aboard. Packaged food is usually the best answer.

Thanks for your help.

Don't worry I will definitely be trying the oysters and seafood too :)
