Visiting from NYC

I'm coming down to New Orleans in late March with a group of 8 (all from various cities in the Northeast). I'm a total restaurant person, but many in the group are not. I'm looking for moderately priced, really great food in a relaxed atmosphere. Some can even be take-out.

Will be staying outside the French Quarter, but not too far. (Sorry, my NO geography isn't that good.)

I definitely want a muffaletta, and Central Grocery has been recommended to me. Looking for crawfish, oysters and anything else you can recommend. Won't have a car.

I know I'm getting an early start in the planning, but I can't resist. Thanks in advance for your advice.
