Hello All - This summer will be our first visit back in about 7 years, although we used to visit frequently. We want to visit a few old favorites as well as eat a bit of Montreal now. I think a lot has changed since 2008. I have a few ideas already, but could use some fine tuning and advice to fill in the gaps. We are driving up so will have a car and we'll be there for about 9 nights. We eat pretty much anything (except shellfish - one of us).
Old Favorites - Spouse and now preteen kid are huge foie gras fans, so a return visit to APDC is in the cards. We're booked in a suite hotel with a kitchen and plan visits to Jean Talon and Atwater to stock up for breakfasts and lunches to pack. Any new and interesting shops there? I like the courtyard terrasse at Khyber Pass, so maybe that once for dinner.
New - Definitely Wilfrid sur Laurier since we were big fans of Brunoise.
Landry et Filles and Grumman 78 look tasty, casual and not too pricey.
One splurge meal is in our budget, I was thinking Bouillon Bilk but the restaurant seems to have disappeared from Opentable so I'll have to call.
We really like to eat outside in summer. Also looking at Petit Alep (new to us) since I heard that they have a patio. Read about the tandoori pizza at Jarry Pizza which really appeals so that is also on the list for a cheap dinner one night.
Been to Joe Beef, L'Express, Lemeac, Schwartz's (not my thing, although I can appreciate why it is so popular), Toque, La Chronique, St. Viateur, Fairmount, La Banquise (will make a repeat visit there, am a huge poutine fan), just to say where we've been before.
Any other suggestions, especially for outdoor dining?
Also, my grandmother from Napierville used to make a kicka$$ tourtiere. Any suggestions where to find a good one?
Thank you very, very much.
