I finally made it to Darbar last night, and enjoyed my meal.
Vegetable Samosa - Better than most, with chunks of potato. Nicely fried.
Haleem - This was more lentil-focused than I expected, and wasn't quite as spicy as I expected it to be. I have never had haleem before, so I had no real point of comparison. It had almost a creamy consistency, with some specks of shredded beef, though the beef flavor was strong throughout. Texture-wise, and actually a bit taste-wise too, it reminded me of refried beans. It was pretty simple, but also pretty comforting.
Saag - This was excellent. Nice bitter flavor of the mustard greens came through, I would eat this over more common Indian spinach dishes any day!
Regular naan - Quite good, nicely crisped.
Lachha paratha - Nothing really special in my opinion, probably would just stick with naan in the future.
Service was friendly, parking was easy, lots of interesting things on the menu (as has been discussed on Chowhound extensively). The condiment tray was also impressive - it included spicy pickle (not that spicy, but a nice addition), onion chutney, mint chutney and tamarind sauce. The tamarind sauce was really good, and less sweet than versions I've had at most other South Asian places. I wondered if it's homemade.
Will definitely go back. Thanks fellow hounds for the recommendation!
