Our visit to Claremont (BC Cafe)

GregJ | Feb 20, 2004 10:24 AM

We spent three days in Claremont last weekend (visiting from DC) and generally had (as predicted by some on this board) only so-so food. We did eat breakfast at one great place, though: BC Cafe at 701 S. Indian Hill Blvd in Claremont (another branch at 10123 Foothill in Rancho Cucamonga). This is a seriously good place, with a wide variety of dishes (e.g., the only place in California I've ever seen grits on the menu) at very reasonable prices. I had a platter of scrambled eggs, chorizo, rice and beans that was fabulous .. I was stuffed! On Monday night we were in Santa Monica, and had a wonderful dinner at Melisse at Wilshire and 11th (outstanding food and service)...But of course there you're talking much bigger bucks. Dollar-for-dollar BC Cafe was a better deal (though the comparison is admittedly somewhat unfair).
