Our Visit to Cambridge: Review of Central Kitchen: disgusting

Simon | May 8, 2005 06:56 PM

So we went to Central Kitchen this past Saturday...having had an amazing meal at Chez Henri the night before, our expectations were somewhat high, but we did know that Central Kitchen was a more casual place, so we were merely hoping for a pleasant tasty meal...

This place was so awful that we left before even finishing our food...we were initially put off by how deafeningly loud it was (and we, as NYers, are used to fairly loud places) but we gamely stayed...the meal started off with some delicious oysters...but then slipped with a too salty mushroom soup that we ate anyway...

Then, after a long wait, the duck confit arrived...my gf and i both took a bite: my bite had tiny bits of bone in it...her bite contained an inch and a half long shard of bone which she almost choked on...

Pushing it aside til we could snag a waiter, we tried the salmon cakes: disgusting room temperature mush: tasted like canned salmon and mayonnaise that was tossed in a frying pan for a couple seconds and then left out for half an hour...

At this point, we were done: we signalled the waiter to take back the duck and salmon, and he brought a manager over: she was very nice and professional...she apologized for the treacherous bone-laced duck salad and the poor experience and charged us only for the oysters...

Ugh...
