Virtu, Scottsdale

My husband and I spent several days in Scottsdale last week and had such outstanding food and service at Virtu (in the Bespoke Inn on N. Marshall Way) that we ate there twice, and would have been glad to eat there every night had we not felt it our chowhound duty to explore other options. We did go in for happy hour every single evening, enjoying the art and craft of Clint "Spotty" Spotleson, mixologist extraordinare. (Blackberry-sage margarita? Absolutely.) Proscuitto-wrapped lamb tenderloin and rosemary crusted venison loin were standouts, along with marvelously creamy burrata with a little honey and lemon oil--even the accompanying grilled bread was just right and reflected the amount of care being taken in the kitchen. Nice wine list too, but the cocktails should not be missed.
We also had good meals at the Mission (lamb rib adobada,which was my favorite; the pork shoulder for two, and the street corn, all good) and FnB (eggplant parmesan, an interesting pasta dish with lobster mushrooms, and --back to my childhood!--butterscotch pudding), but they weren't as good as Virtu. I hope we get back there someday!
