You all always have the best ideas, so here goes...

My boyfriend's parents are coming to town in a couple weeks and we will be doing a dinner out with the four of us. We will be celebrating his father's birthday and it will also be the first time I've met them. Boyfriend and I are serious, so I want this to go kinks, no one getting cold, poorly cooked food, etc.

Apparently, dad would be most at home at a steakhouse, while mom likes things a little lighter -- seafood, perhaps. The ideal would be someplace classic with a variety of choices on the menu. Dad won't want to dress up; mom won't want to feel uncomfortable if she wears something nice; I'll be business casual from work; boyfriend will be casual.

One last thing -- I don't know who will be paying for the meal, so I'd like to stick to nice (special occasion) but not high end so that no one is surprised.

They will be staying near National Airport, but I would lean towards something in the city, unless there's something compelling out that way. I've thought of Old Ebbitt or District Chophouse. Am I forgetting the perfect place?

Thanks in advance!
