Friend and I tried Violet last night for the first time. First course--a little salad for me, for friend: a tiny but wonderful slice of house-cured smoked salmon tart. Mains: veal cheeks for me with wild mushrooms and polenta. Him: venison on a risotto--excellent venison! We each had a glass of wine. Didn't try the desserts. Cons: The room is a little stark, the art a bit minimalist for my taste. The menu is rather limited (i.e., 4 pastas, 4 fish, 4 meats, etc.--and a special or two). The portions are a tad small as well, but the price is definitely right--apps are 6-7, mains 13-19. Service was very nice. Will certainly go back.
