my bf and i just ate at violet. neither one of us were fans of the whole "small plates" thing. i didn't realize the whole menu was small plates. so i was a little put off at first.
warm fresh bread was deloish to start.
we ordered the grilled ceasar, which was nice, very tasty. unfortunately, one stalk of lettce was not nearly enough for one person, not sure how we could have shared it as the waitress suggested.
mac and cheese was a decent size, it had a wonderful crust and was peppered with serrano ham. yum.
their specail: risotto with rock shrimp and lobster mushrooms. very sharable plate, absolutely divine.
jidori chicken breast was larger that expected and was super tender and light.
braised beef short ribs rocked. so tender with a port reduction and two grilled rosemary asparagus. aboslute perfection.
service started out fabulous and then got pretty slow.we waited about fifteen minutes after giving the waitress our credit card until she came back.
no bottled water, wine or drinks and our bill was $59.00 before tip. i really thought we were going to walk out of there hungry but surprisingly everything was high quality and extremely flavorful. just wish they would change the small plates trend to the big plate trend. if they did , i would be back there in a heartbeat.
