Hello. I want to buy my boyfriend a food mill as a gift and am trying to weigh the pros and cons of getting a vintage Foley food mill (there are many on Ebay and Etsy) versus a modern stainless steel one (there are posts here about which specific brands work best). I think I can find the info to weigh the differences in functionality, but I am wondering about the material. We do not use aluminum pots and got rid of our aluminum rice cooker, but does it matter if the food mill is aluminum since there will be hot tomatoes going into it? I thought I would ask to see if other cooks have already considered these tradeoffs.
